Covington Bay--Episode 86
Nikki and Nina discuss Nikki's problems with the men in her life. She is starting to feel trapped between Richie and James and wonders if she made a mistake agreeing to get involved with James to get evidence that he killed Candice, especially since she and Richie are on the outs right now because of Richie's jealousy of James. Nikki thinks she and Richie will make up, but she wonders if things will ever be the same between them. Nina reminds Nikki of James' feelings for her, which Nikki says she can handle. Nina suggests Nikki get out of this situation, but Nikki says she can't. She feels she has to see it through, starting with finding Candice's diary. Nikki wants to go to the hospital and ask for Glenn's help, but she knows he wouldn't do anything since he believes Nathan killed Candice. Therefore, Nikki has come up with a plan that involves Nina.
Richie makes plans to make up with Nikki not only because he loves her, but because he needs her to prove James killed Candice. Marc says the plan has to come off or their secret could be exposed. But they are also concerned that Nikki could find Candice's diary and discover what Candice knew about Richie and Marc, which the young men are certain Candice wrote in her diary. Richie has a plan to distract Nikki long enough for him to get to the diary before she does.

Still, he's got his problems too, being busy with his parishioners, especially Polly Johnson, who's son Sam is still in critical condition. Sabrina plans to go to the hospital to see Gloria and check up on how she is doing after the incident at the courthouse with Glenn. As she hangs up her phone, Sabrina is visited by Patricia, who tells Sabrina about Michael's plans to quit his job. Patricia wants to know what Sabrina is going to do to get Michael back to work. When Patricia is insistent that Sabrina do something and insinuates that because she hired Lucas Greyhawk, knowing the bad history between Michael and Lucas, it's partially Sabrina's fault. Sabrina reminds Patricia that things were fine until she came back to town and got so involved with the Greyhawks, only acerbating the problems. When Patricia refuses to accept any responsibility for what happened, Sabrina realizes that Patricia is only so concerned about Michael because she doesn't want to be blamed for anything. Angry about Patricia's selfishness, Sabrina says she will help Michael, but not for Patricia sake, but for Michael's.
Michael visits Collier and Associates to clean out his office. He regrets having left the D.A.'s office to work as a defense attorney and feels he should've known it would never work, especially after being assigned the Nathan James case and having to work with Lucas. Lucas then drops by, smug about Michael's quitting and informing Michael that he's going to be taking over his office while he works on the Nathan James case. The two exchange words and Michael leaves in disgust, vowing that one day, Lucas will pay for all the rotten things he and his family have done.
A.J. runs into Jack Rios, a reporter (the one Eric nearly assaulted) for the Covington Bay Times, who revels in writing sleazy stories. The two reporters, longtime rivals, clash and Rios vows he and his paper is going to crush A.J. and the Covington Bay Journal, especially now that Quentin has bought the paper. A.J. insists it won't be that easy.

Once there, Melissa sees Angela, who gleefully informs Melissa where to find Eric. Angela is enjoying Eric's plight and wishes she could be there to see what happens when Walter learns about his daughters relationship with Eric.
Eric believes Walter will help him smooth out his legal problems, considering himself indispensable to the department and refusing to believe what he did was all that bad. However, feeling there's nothing he can do to get Eric out of this situation, Walter fires Eric and informs him Nigel is on his way to the office to press formal charges. Walter and Jake advise Eric to get a lawyer, but Eric doesn't think he needs one. Jake, however, calls his mother Sabrina and gets her to come down to represent Eric.

Eventually, Gloria tells Zachary what his father did to stop the divorce. Zachary is outraged and hurt. He slips and says 'that this isn't what he wanted for her or us'. Stunned, Gloria asks Zachary what he meant by 'us'.
Witnessing the display of affection between Gloria and Zachary and upset when they take off together, Dana wants to follow, but Natalie won't let her, warning Dana she is risking so much to chase after Zachary, especially since Zachary and Gloria are no more than friends. Dana insists otherwise and is ready to take off despite Natalie's warnings. Before she can leave, Melody comes up and wants to know where Dana is going. Natalie covers for Dana, but Melody still chastises Dana for her poor performance on the job lately and warns her to get her act together. After Melody leaves, Natalie does the same thing, but Dana isn't listening.
Covington Bay--Episode 87
Nigel is at the police station about to handle the situation with Eric's arrest when he runs into Kevin. Kevin is concerned about Nigel's injuries, but Nigel says he's fine. He's more concerned about Monica and Vicki being caught up in the Lassiter/Greyhawk war. Kevin wonders how Nigel will protect his wife and stepdaughter and Nigel says he has a plan to do just that. Kevin admits that Nigel is a good father, which surprises Nigel considering how negative Kevin was about his marriage the day before. Kevin says he thinks Nigel shouldn't have married Monica, but says that it's clear he loves her very much. The subject shifts to Nigel's visit to Alec's memorial service and Nigel admits again that he loves Kevin even if they can't be together. Kevin is obviously touched and admits to Nigel that he was wrong for being so mean to him that day. Kevin explains that seeing Nigel only reminded him of all he's lost in his life his mother's death, his brother Brandon's institutionalization and Nigel's decision to walk away from what they had and that was why he was so embittered. Nigel is surprised by Kevin's admission including that Kevin will always love him. The two go on to reminisce about how they inadvertently wound up in Rome together as teenagers and fell in love. But before things get too emotional between them, Nigel leaves.
Angela and A.J. spar over Eric's plight. Angela can't hide her glee that Eric is headed for self-destruction, especially now that Melissa and Eric's affair is about to be exposed. A.J. admonishes Angela for telling Melissa where to find Eric, knowing that he would be with Walter. However, Angela doesn't care about A.J.'s opinion. In fact, she's out to end A.J.'s relationship with Melody, certain A.J. will never marry Melody. Again she encourages to break it off with Melody so she can get on with her life. Of course, Angela doesnt know that A.J. plans to do just that because he doesn't want her to be stuck with him considering the secret he is keeping. Later, during a conversation with Jake, A.J. is puzzled when he asks how Melody is doing. Jake says he's only curious because of the misery Melody went through when she thought A.J. was dead. The subject shifts to the search for Reilly and Slade and Jake says there has been no leads. Jake then decides he should tell A.J. about the bug Eric found in his apartment.
As Eric and Walter debate whether Eric's career can be saved, Melissa comes in. It doesn't take long for Walter to figure out that his daughter and Eric are involved. Walter is very angry about it and tries to warn Melissa that Eric is no good for her. Melissa isn't listening but Walter manages to get her to wait for him in her office so Eric can deal with his legal problems. Melissa leaves and Eric is instantly smug about his relationship with the young Miss Stone. Walter warns that the relationship is over and he'll do whatever he has to see that it happens. They are interrupted by Nigel, who wants to talk to Eric alone. Walter is wary about it, but agrees and leaves. Eric is stunned when Nigel then announces he'll drop the charges but only on one condition.
At Covington Bay Medical Center, Gloria presses Zachary to admit what he meant by 'us'. Before Zachary can answer, he is interrupted by a knock at the door. It is Harry Tamakai, who has come to invite both Zachary and Gloria to Adam and Maggie's welcome home party. Gloria is about to turn down the invite, but Zachary accepts for both of them. After Harry leaves, Gloria tells Zach she really didn't want to go to the party. Zachary says considering all that is going on, she could use some time with family and friends in a fun environment besides he'll be there too. Pleased with that idea, Gloria agrees to go and they both privately admit they can't wait to see each other that evening. However, they also resolve to keep their feelings to themselves, certain an admission would ruin their friendship.

Danny simply says he had things to take care of, which is not good enough for Mama J., who assumes Danny was getting into trouble. She demands to know where he was and what he's up to.
Gary thinks about his meeting with Derek Kendall and tells Hillary he's decided to continue therapy with the man. Gary has another concern: what will happen when Gloria and Glenn find out Derek is back in town. Meanwhile, Derek is at his hotel room, thinking of his sister's visit and how she wanted him to return to Chicago, only Derek refused. Gary is disturbed to learn Derek doesn't have a job (he used to be a reporter with the Times and was a good friend of A.J.'s), but Derek promises he'll do that soon. Then Gary asks Derek how Glenn and Gloria fit into his plans for a new life in Covington Bay.

Danny stops her, want to know who she is. She informs him that she and her father are Nathan's new doctors and that Darian is off the case. Danny is angry to hear that and demands Darian be back on the case...especially when he learns Christopher is out of town and not directly involved in Nathan's care. He refuses to let Christina in the room and in effect, fires her. Christina storms off and Danny makes the comment that Christina's haughty attitude reminds him for Dana. Mama J. wants to know why Dana is on his mind.
Dana tells Zachary she's worried that once everyone learns she was once married to Danny, especially Glenn, will chastise her. Zachary promises he won't let anyone hurt her, especially his father. Gloria sees this intimate moment and is visibly troubled by it...something Sabrina notices. But Gloria turns away and wants to know what A.J. was coming to see her about. The conversation then shifts to Nathan and Glenn's insistence that the boy is guilty. A.J. wonders if the fact that Nate is black fuels Glenn's belief.
Derek admits he wants to confront Glenn and Gloria, he wants to apologize to them for all he's done. Gary says it's not a good idea...he's not ready to deal with the emotional turmoil that is sure to come by digging up all that ugly history.
